Laenor Velaryon is the eldest son and second child of Lord Corlys Velaryon and his wife, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen. During the Great Council of 101 AC, young Laenor was a candidate for the Iron Throne. He was passed over, however, and his mother betrothed him to Rhaenyra Targaryen when she was named the Princess of Dragonstone. In this act, his line would sit the Iron Throne and bring peace to the family. Like many members of her family, Rhaenyra practices polygamy, and Laenor is only her first husband. She is also married to their cousin Aemon Targaryen. The three are very close. Only Jacaerys is confirmed to be Laenor's child as he was born before Rhaenyra's second marriage. Despite this, Laenor loves all of his, Rhaenyra, and Aemon's children and treats them all as his own. He is a dragonrider who rides the dragon Seasmoke.
