Lord Jaime Lannister is the eldest son and second child of Lord Tywin Lannister and his wife Joanna Lannister. Jaime has been groomed by his father since he was a child to become the Lord of Casterly Rock, but he is not the lord his father wanted. When he was fourteen, Jaime was appointed to the Kingsguard; the youngest ever, by King Aerys II Targaryen. During Robert's Rebellion, Jaime spent most of his time in King's Landing as a hostage, but that proved to be Aerys' undoing. When he learned that Aerys planned to burn King's Landing to the ground, Jaime killed him and earned the moniker Kingslayer. After the rebellion, Jaime was released from the Kingsguard and returned to Casterly Rock as heir. However, he soon left and went off to find his place in the world. He soon met Lady Brienne Tarth and married her against his father's wishes.
